Courtney Smith

Courtney Smith is a certified Functional Patterns practitioner and the founder of a dedicated training facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Her path into health and movement began with personal experience. For much of her early life, she struggled with fluctuating weight, depression, and chronic fatigue, along with persistent anxiety about her physical capabilities. At nineteen, she turned to weightlifting as a means of building strength and confidence, and soon developed a broader passion for movement that encompassed calisthenics, yoga, parkour, and gymnastics.

This passion led her into personal training, where she found purpose in helping others pursue their own health and fitness goals. Over time, however, she began experiencing increasing pain following her workouts, a pattern she observed in her clients as well. When conventional physical therapy approaches failed to provide meaningful relief, she committed herself to identifying the underlying cause.

Her search led her to Functional Patterns, a training methodology developed by Naudi Aguilar. As Courtney integrated its principles into her own practice and her work with clients, she and those she trained experienced significant reductions in pain. The methodology offered what she had long been missing: a coherent framework for understanding how the human body is designed to move and how to train in alignment with that design.

Courtney earned her certification as a Functional Patterns Human Foundations Practitioner in 2019, followed by certification as a Human Biomechanics Specialist in 2020. In early 2023, she opened her Vance Avenue facility as a dedicated Functional Patterns training center. Having experienced firsthand how this approach can resolve chronic pain and restore both physical and mental wellbeing, she is committed to helping others move with confidence and feel at home in their bodies.
