Tracy Wood

Tracy Wood is the Chief Executive Officer of the Journey Health Foundation, where she directs the organization’s work and implements its long-term strategic plan to make Chattanooga one of the healthiest cities in America. A highly involved member of Chattanooga’s corporate and civic communities, Tracy currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, CHI Memorial, and Cempa Community Care. Tracy was recently honored with the Women of Distinction award for her civic, cultural, philanthropic, and environmental contributions to the greater Chattanooga area. She also serves on the Regional Health Council and is an active member of the Rotary Club.

Over the course of her life, she has placed a strong emphasis on perseverance, accountability, and ethics – values she credits to the example set by her parents. Raised in Hampton, Virginia, Tracy’s early life in the Tidewater area was marked by active involvement in her high school’s cheerleading team, where she first learned to appreciate the importance of teamwork and community engagement. She matriculated at Marymount College, now part of Fordham University, where she majored in Psychology and Business before later earning a Masters in Public Administration concentration in Healthcare from Grand Canyon University.

Tracy’s first experience in the healthcare field while she was still in high school, beginning with a role at a chiropractor’s office. Her work in the hospice and palliative care industry eventually brought her to Hospice of Chattanooga, which made her CEO in 2016. During that time, she spearheaded the creation of Alleo Health to serve as the parent company for Hospice of Chattanooga and future service lines. This strategic move allowed for the integration of clinical offerings that positively impacted patient care, drove organization-wide efficiencies, and increased hospice census by 255% over 4.5 years.

Under her leadership, the organization was sold in 2021, a strategic move that facilitated the founding of the Journey Health Foundation. A highly involved member of Chattanooga’s corporate and civic communities, Tracy currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, CHI Memorial, and Cempa Community Care. She also serves on the Regional Health Council and is an active member of the Rotary Club.
